Hannah's House

Hannah's House from the outside

A Christian, family-style maternity home providing a loving, caring environment for pregnant women and teens as they await their babies birth.

Our maternity home, Hannah's House, is supervised by a full-time staff who provide a comfortable, supportive, home-like environment for those who choose to carry their baby to term. Hannah's House accepts pregnant women ages 18 up. Residents work together in the household by supporting each other in shared experiences, normal household chores and observing house rules.

If you are interested in applying for residency, please call our office at 269-345-0725 to set up an appointment for a preliminary interview.  All potential residents must complete an application form and agree to comply with household rules and policies.  Upon completion of the application process and approval, placement is made based on availability in the home.

Common Questions
How does the resident decide whether to parent or release for adoption? Pregnancy peer counsel will be provided to help the resident with the decision making process. The staff will support either decision.

Is transportation available? Yes, but residents may drive their own car if it is licensed and insured.

What if the potential resident has other children in their care? The home has no accommodations for children.

Where will the resident live after the birth of the baby? Upon arrival at the home, residents will be assisted in planning for a place to live after the birth of their baby.

What kind of practical help does Hannah's House provide? Parenting & Life Skills classes, emotional support and care, an introduction to resources in our community, referrals and support for adoption and the ability to earn personal and baby items from the house.

Will residents receive spiritual guidance? Yes.  Because this is a Christian home, church attendance is required as well as daily group devotions.

Do residents have to pay rent? No.  All services are free to those that complete the residency program, if room is available.

How long can residents stay in the home? Up to three months after the birth of their baby.

How can I help Hannah's House store?

A tangible way to help Hannah's House is by giving to the Hannah's House store. The store includes baby, personal and apartment items. The residents of Hannah's House are able to purchase these items using their points which are earned by attending classes at Hannah's House and Alternatives, doing chores, journaling and attaining goals.

Our store approach has been successful for more than four years now,  and allows our residents to work towards items on a daily basis. Instead of churches giving our resident's baby shower's, they give showers for the Hannah's store and each resident is given equal opportunity to earn these items.

You can stock our store by giving personally or by hosting a Hannah's House shower. Invite your church family, friends or relatives, have cake, play some games and share you gifts for Hannah's store with one another. You can even involve children, youth, young adults or a Bible study. There is no limit to the fun you can have during these showers. Some of the items we need for Hannah's House are:

Kitchen Dish Cloths/Towels, Towels/Washcloths, Dishes, Mixing Bowls, Small Kitchen Appliances,  Pans
Maxi Pads, Nursing Pads, Nursing bras Size B or C, Diapers size 1-3, Sleepers 0-6m,  Bibs, Bottles,  Onesies 0-6m

Please remember that all items for Hannah’s Store are to be new. Thank you for helping in this way!
